Reel 2: 060—01
EXT. SPACE
The AeroFox flips 180 degrees and fires its main engine. The bright blue light of its exhaust plume is blinding as the ship slows and begins plunging toward the planet below.

INT. AEROFOX
Inside the ship, the cabin vibrates loudly. Clarke and Dyson grit their teeth as they endure the G-forces.
DYSON (straining to speak) " How many gees are we pulling? "
OH " Coming up on eight. "
DYSON " And this is the first maneuver? "
EXT. SPACE
As the engines continue to fire, The AeroFox loses nearly all of its initial forward momentum.

EXT. SPACE
Seen from outside, the rockets abruptly cease operation. The AeroFox falls like a meteor.

Dyson is relieved as they return to zero-gravity. It’s clear he’s fighting through significant pain.
DYSON " Well, that hurt. "
CLARKE " Not as much as crashing on the surface. "

CLARKE " Okay, OH. How's this? "
OMNI " You stay on this course, it’ll take you right to them. "
Through her canopy, Clarke notices FLASHES on the horizon.
CLARKE " Up ahead. Look at that. "
DYSON " Yeah, lightning. It's caused by the temperature variance on the day-night line. "
OH " One of the strange things you get on a planet where one side always faces the parent star. "
DYSON " And we’re headed straight for it. "
CLARKE " If the AstroBug made it through, so can we. Prepare for the next burn. "
CLARKE " Get ready for the pain. "
EXT. SPACE

INT. AEROFOX
Pressed back into their seats by the acceleration, the crew is buffeted much more wildly this time.
[AddDescriptiveText]
Dyson is not handling it well.
He slumps to the side as he loses consciousness!
[Aerofox Drops away from camera]
[Ship finishes it's manuver]
It’s aligned for entry.
[Motion Continues]
The engine shuts down once again. Seconds after cut off, the maneuvering jets fire, flipping the craft 180 degrees.
INT. AEROFOX
Clarke gasps a deep breath. The massive speed is taking a toll on her as well. She checks her instrumentation.
CLARKE " Velocity five thousand meters per second. Prepare for braking thrust. "
Clarke notices silence from Dyson’s direction. She calls out.
CLARKE (CONT’D) " Kyle, you still with me...? Kyle? "
OH pops up a DIAGNOSTIC image of Dyson on Clarke’s display.
OH " He’s out. I’m reading internal bleeding and tissue damage. "
Clarke is horrified as she scans the medical information.
CLARKE " Is he going to be okay? "
OH " You both experienced over a minute at nine gees. I’m surprised you didn’t black out as well. "
CLARKE " I’ll get us down safely. Then we can use the X-Doc on him. Hang on. "
The AeroFox fires its main engine a final time, slowing its meteoric descent.
EXT. PROXIMA B, ATMOSPHERE
Moments later -- after the engine cuts off -- the AeroFox slams into the stratosphere, leaving the dayside behind.
The craft generates a trail of superheated gas in its wake as Proxima Centauri creates a crimson sunset on the horizon.

A loud roar permeates the cabin. Clarke focuses on a wireframe landscape on her monitor.
The AstroBug crash site is ahead.
...as the glow of its heat shield diminishes.
Up ahead, an ominous wall of MOUNTAINS lines the horizon. Above beyond them, lightning flashes as the storm rages.
Screens indicate they're almost on the ground.
Clarke is on her game, guiding the craft.

EXT. PROXIMA B, ATMOSPHERE
The ship arcs just above the mountains and enters the electric maelstrom.
It disappears into black clouds.
The ship is buffeted by turbulence even harder than during atmospheric entry.
EXT. PROXIMA B, ATMOSPHERE
Rockets along the upper section of the AeroFox fire, slowing the craft further.
[ The thrusters fire ]
The AeroFox breaches the clouds, ...
Simultaneously, the onslaught of the storm increases.
... dropping towards the mountains.

Clarke backs away from her instruments to avoid being electrocuted. As the sparks fade, internal power fails at the same time.
Wisps of smoke drift from OH’s cube-shaped unit.
A broad valley of ice and dust is up ahead.
The craft exits the storm, straightening its course.
[AreoFox Shoots upwards Cont.]
[AreoFox Shoots upwards]
[The thrust stops the decent]
Main power comes back online. Suddenly, the retros kick back in.
[The scrape gives the AeroFox distance from the cliff]
[Scrrrrrrrrape!]
There’s a loud scraping sound as the lower section is damaged.
... skirting the edge of a CLIFF!
[Rapidly Drops]
The ship drops, ...
Dyson wakes up from the smoke and starts coughing.
DYSON " Hey... Fire! "
CLARKE " OH, activate the fire suppression system. "
CLARKE " OH? "
There’s no response from the computer.
The screens indicate they’re nearing touchdown.
Clarke hits a series of buttons.
Landing struts emerge and lock in place.
[camera rotates up as the craft decends]
The ship's rockets blast away dirt as it finally...
... settles on the cracked, alien surface.
disconnects her restraints, and...
jumps out. Landing firmly on the deck...
[gets ready to jump]
she snatches a FIRE EXTINGUISHER from the wall.

[ The flames die out quickly ]
She quickly douese the flames.
After taking a moment to catch her breath, ...
... she moves to the science station and shuts down the alarms.
She scans OH’s main interface.
It’s offline.
An eerie silence fills the cabin -- interrupted by the howling wind and distant thunder.
Clarke leans back against the console and closes her eyes for a moment to listen.
EXT. PROXIMA B, SURFACE
The ship has landed on a windy plain. The mountains are in the distance as snow flurries blow by, obscuring the view.
