Baxter lugs the white OMNI CUBE.
Clarke presses a button on the central column.
The hatch moves back to standard position.
Dyson watches her with empathy from a seat at the science station.
DYSON " Darcy, I don’t know what to say. "
Without making eye contact, Clarke removes the X-Doc from her oxygen pack.
She kneels down and leans it against the column.
She stands again and presses a button for her pilot’s chair.
Near the MED STATION, Baxter monitors the tension in the room.
Clarke sits in her pilot’s chair and takes off her EVA equipment.
Baxter places the Omni Cube on the floor near the burnt-out OH.
She smiles at Dyson sadly.
BAXTER " We brought Omni. "
DYSON " Thanks. I don’t need it. "
BAXTER " Jim said you did. "
DYSON " Things are running well enough. I’d rather not rely on some knock-off. "
Clarke turns and addresses Dyson with misplaced anger.
CLARKE " Kyle, we don’t have time for this shit. Plug him in and do your job! "
Dyson is shocked by Clarke’s outburst, but gets it.
DYSON " Sorry. "
A brooding Clarke sits in her chair and belts in.
As her chair rises into place, Clarke starts tapping on the computer, plotting a course to the other hemisphere.
Leaning against the wall, Baxter changes the subject.
BAXTER " Heard you had a rough ride down. "
DYSON " I’m a little beat up. I’ll live. "
BAXTER " Let’s use the X-Doc to fix you up. "
DYSON " Can I show you something first? "
BAXTER " Sure. "
Dyson extends the other seat at the science station.
Baxter sits.
Dyson pulls up a map of Proxima b.
DYSON " When I was trying to fix my Omni, I came across the last thing he was working on with yours. "
Dyson causes the non-functional shield nodes to flash.
DYSON (CONT’D) " I ran a comparison of the bad shield nodes and the ore deposits. "
He turns off the nodes, leaving behind the geoglyph formations.
Dyson reinstates the map of the shield grid.
DYSON (CONT’D) " Do you see what I'm seeing? Every single corrupted node is located on top of a geoglyph. "
Clarke overhears them as she identifies the closest shield node on her console, NODE 212.
DYSON (CONT’D) " The nodes that landed on top of the formations are all non-functional. "
The ones that didn't are at one hundred percent.
Baxter squints at the map in frustration.
BAXTER " We need at least ninety-five percent of the nodes functioning or the damn thing won’t work. "
DYSON " I know. My point is, I think there’s a connection between the geoglyphs and whatever or whomever did this to our shield. "
BAXTER " Whomever? Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. "
At her station, Clarke finishes mapping out a route on her computer.
She’s growing impatient with the conversation.
DYSON " Fine, maybe I’m wrong. You’re the expert, what do you think? "
Baxter pulls up an image of Proxima b’s magnetic fields. Blue iridescent aurorae illuminate its poles.
BAXTER " I’m wondering if this whole thing might be related to the planet’s magnetic field. "
DYSON " It is huge. Way bigger than Earth’s. "
As she listens, Clarke has had enough.
BAXTER " It would mean the geoglyphs are somehow interacting directly with the magnetosphere. "
Clarke lowers her chair and jumps to collect her gear.
CLARKE " Guys. Less talk. More action. I’m taking over the mission. Baxter, grab your gear. We’re driving out to Node Two-Twelve to find out what’s going on and fix this thing. "
BAXTER " Two-Twelve? "
CLARKE " The closest one. A five-hour drive. (to Dyson) Get Omni installed and up to speed. Then use the X-Doc and fix whatever the hell is wrong with you. "
Weary, Baxter stands and reluctantly grabs her EVA equipment.
Both women put on their SNOOPY CAPS.
DYSON " Listen, if you’re going out there, could you grab me a sample? "
CLARKE " A sample of what? "
DYSON " The geoglyph. I want to run some tests. It would help to have a chunk of the actual material. "
CLARKE " Kyle, we need to focus on the mission. We can deal with the science shit later. "
BAXTER " He’s right, kiddo. Two-Twelve is on top of a major formation. If it’s a part of what’s causing the issue, we could use a sample. "
CLARKE " Fine. (opening the hatch) On the way, I want you to figure out how to create a firewall that will block further E-M-Ps from messing with the shield. "
BAXTER " I’ll see what I can do. "
Baxter follows suit, donning her mask.
She shoots a final glance to Dyson ...
...then joins Clarke in the airlock.
It closes.

INT. TERRACAT
The two women are seated opposite one another -- both silent. Baxter looks at Clarke tenderly.
BAXTER " I'm sorry about Jim. I know what it's like to lose someone you love. "
CLARKE (holding back tears) " The last time we were alone, I was pissed at him over nothing. "
BAXTER " Honey, whatever was going on between you two, I’m sure it-- "
CLARKE (interrupting) " Can you not talk to me? "
Baxter is hurt, but understands.
She turns away, closes her eyes and steadily falls asleep.
Clarke watches as the older woman slowly sinks deep into a desperately-needed slumber.
Clarke stares out the window as the rocky walls of the canyon slide past.

She finally has a moment alone to release her pent-up emotions.
She cries.
Tears stream down her cheeks, mirroring the weather outside.
EXT. LANDING SITE
The ship is silhouetted by the glow of the bright stars of Alpha Centauri A & B.
The embers of the AstroBug explosion still glow in the distance.
He winces in pain as studies the inert Omni interface. It’s clear he needs the A.I.’s help. He sighs.
DYSON " Fine."
CUT TO moments later -- Dyson slides the AstroBug’s Omni Cube into its slot.
It boots it up.
A start-up TONE fills the room as the A.I.’s infinity symbol propagates on screens around the cabin. It stops near him with an almost gleeful energy.
OMNI " Ah -- AeroFox Two. AstroTech Dyson. I’m here. I’m awake. They made it. "
DYSON " Not all of them. We lost Jim Corey. "
OMNI " Oh, no. I’m so sorry to hear that. "
DYSON " He’s not the only one we lost. My personal Omni was also destroyed. You’re gonna have to forgive me if I act strange while we’re working. "
OMNI " I don’t understand. "
DYSON " I got my first Omni Disc when I was four. I did the manual O-S updates until I was nine. I accidentally skipped one and never did it again. "
OMNI " You never reintegrated your Omni with the ship’s mainframe? "
DYSON " That’s right. I needed a friend. I was tired of being a third wheel to Jim and Darcy. "
OMNI " Then your unit must have evolved it’s own personality. "
DYSON " Yep. I even nicknamed him " OH" . "
OMNI " And you hid this from the crew? "
DYSON " He was my best friend. "
OMNI " Mister Dyson, let me assure you -- while I may not be the exact companion your Omni was, he and I originated from the same initial program. Some of him is in me. "
Suddenly, Dyson has a coughing fit.
OMNI (CONT’D) " You are not well. "
DYSON " Got beat up by G-forces on the way down. I needed to get a diagnosis from the X-Doc. Guess I forgot. "
Dyson stands and opens the case Clarke brought, revealing the X-DOC -- an intimidating x-shaped medical device. He grabs it, then taps a button on the cabin’s central column, moving his flight seat into the RECLINE POSITION.
DYSON (CONT’D) " Could you run this thing for me? "
OMNI " Absolutely. "
Dyson lies down, placing the device on his chest. It lights up as it wraps its arms around his torso. Dyson coughs again.
DYSON " How’s it looking? "
OMNI " Not good. You’re suffering from internal bleeding. "
DYSON " I thought I was tougher than this. "
OMNI " While you, Darcy, and Jim were conditioned to live on Proxima b, there are peripheral factors that might have affected your health during interstellar travel. "
DYSON " Will I be okay? "
OMNI " Of course. I’ll complete my diagnosis and develop a treatment regimen. We can begin shortly. "
Dyson leans back to relax as muffled thunder rages outside.
DYSON " Sounds good."
